Introducing Ellen
Rank: Brown Belt
Role: Assistant Coach
Ellie is an exceptional member of our Ju Jitsu community, and embarked on her ju-jitsu journey at a remarkably young age and has dedicated seven years of her life to honing her skills in this martial art. Her journey began at Tannaghmore Primary School, where ju-jitsu was one of the after-school activities that immediately captured her heart.
In a class predominantly attended by boys, Ellie stood out as one of the few girls, but her determination and passion knew no bounds. She later expanded her training by joining sessions at Lurgan Town Hall, where she made significant progress, achieving the status of an orange belt during her junior years.
After a brief hiatus of about three years, Ellie returned to ju-jitsu with renewed vigour. Today, she proudly wears the brown belt of a senior, setting her sights on reaching the coveted black belt soon. Ju-Jitsu is not just an activity for Ellie; it's an integral part of her life. It not only helps her stay fit but has also provided her with lifelong friendships.
Ellie is not content with just personal growth; she's also a dedicated coach who generously shares her knowledge and passion with younger practitioners. Teaching the younger generation helps her refine her skills as she progresses to higher levels.
Beyond Traditional Ju Jitsu, Ellie also delves into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, where she currently holds a white belt. Her inspiration for venturing into BJJ is none other than Gaby, a significant role model in her life. In a male-dominated field like martial arts, Gaby's encouragement motivated Ellie to push herself harder and strive for excellence.
Ellie aspires to be a positive role model for young girls interested in martial arts, just as Gaby has been for her. Her journey is a testament to the limitless possibilities that dedication, passion, and strong role models can offer in the world of martial arts.
