Let us introduce Gaby, a remarkable figure in the Lurgan and Tandragee Jujitsu club. Gaby holds the esteemed title of "second in command" as a club coach, making her an integral part of the team.
Her journey in the world of Jujitsu began in 2009 at the Tandragee club. From a young age, Gaby harboured a deep interest in martial arts, drawing inspiration from her favourite movie, Mulan. She admired Mulan's unwavering respect and unmistakable "don't mess with me" demeanour, which ignited a desire within Gaby to emulate such strength and character.
Since her initiation into Jujitsu, Gaby has displayed unwavering dedication, training consistently week after week. Her commitment led to rapid advancement in her martial arts journey. In an impressive feat, she achieved her black belt in June 2013, followed by her 2nd dan just two years later. Currently, Gaby is diligently working toward attaining her 3rd dan. Her presence serves as a powerful testament that gender should never limit one's excellence in martial arts, and she strives to be a beacon for young girls aspiring to enter the field.
Beyond her prowess on the mat, Gaby undertakes a critical role within the club as the child protection officer. This role involves safeguarding the safety and well-being of the children in the club. Children can readily approach her with any concerns or worries, knowing they have a trusted advocate in Gaby. In addition to her child protection responsibilities, Gaby possesses a full club coach qualification, further enhancing her contribution to the club's growth and development.
Gaby's dedication to martial arts extends beyond Jujitsu, as she also trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where she proudly holds a blue belt. Her commitment and skill in this discipline have been recognized with victories in competitions throughout Northern Ireland. Gaby's multifaceted talents and unwavering commitment make her an invaluable asset to the club and an inspiring figure for all who aspire to excel in martial arts.
